Even in this relatively new medium, Steve can be called a veteran. He started working with computers when he was six and he's never stopped. He started out programming CD-ROMs and computer-based product demos and training for such companies as Compaq, Intel, HP, Gateway, Prudential and Fred Meyer. He has more than 10 years of interactive experience. Steve and the rest of the HMH interactive team ensure that web and interactive projects will reinforce other customer experiences. They're experts at translating brand campaign elements to the web and in things that are exclusive to the web, such as user experience, search engine optimization, paid search, email marketing, online advertising, and the latest web technologies, best practices and standards.

SOMETHING NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT HIM:

I suffer from an extreme fear of cliffs, bees and vegetables.

FAVORITE FOOD:

Pizza. My favorite lunch is bologna and white bread.

SPORTS TRIVIA:

I played small college football at Lewis & Clark College for two years. HMH leader in lifetime bench press of 350 lbs.

PETS:

My best pal is Baxter the dog, a whippet. Baxter's a 35 mph couch potato. (I sadly max out at about five mph.) I also have a cat named Igby.

FAVORITE THINGS TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK:

I’m the commissioner of the Portland Advertising Softball League, as well as co-captain and left-centerfielder of the HMH softball team. I'm also the reluctant captain of the HMH bowling team ("Tied for #@$* third...again!"). I enjoy golf and have invested a large amount of money to upgrade my golf skills from "awful" to "really bad." (Fortunately being "really bad" at bowling just came naturally.)
