ACTORS, STUDIOS CLASH OVER WEB CLIPS
YouTube and web video of television shows and movies are great, but viewers don't have the actors' permission to upload them. Studios don't see why this is a problem and want to continue paying flat fees to actors when they share clips for the world to view. Actors don't like this arrangement and are fighting against free distribution, wanting studios to work out arrangements individually for every clip. With 134 million Americans viewing online videos each month, this audience is huge and growing. Will actors go on strike like the writers did? We'll find out June 30th when the contract between actors and production studios ends.
